Research note
This is a research-based review, not hands-on testing. We use Horizon’s current US retail SKU HTM1380-01 and distinguish it from older marketplace stock. Manufacturer specifications are not our measurements, and documentation cannot establish ride comfort, noise under load or long-term reliability.[1][2][14]
Research-based treadmill review
Horizon 7.4 AT: our verdict
Shortlist it for independent training, particularly if you already have a tablet or television setup you like. QuickDial controls, a broad running surface and optional app connections are the attractions; an integrated entertainment experience is not the proposition.[1][6]
The important buying question is not whether it has enough features on paper. It is whether you prefer managing your own screen and workouts, and can accommodate a substantial machine without making delivery or maintenance an afterthought.

Which Horizon 7.4 AT does this review cover?
The current official product page and Horizon’s model information article identify SKU HTM1380-01.[1][2] Separately, Horizon identifies its 7.4AT-04 generation as serial prefix TM499G, while the older 7.4AT-02 uses TM746B or TM499B.[3] We have not obtained a shipped serial-label photograph connecting the current retail SKU to that prefix, so ask the seller to confirm it before relying on generation-specific connectivity.
This distinction matters on Amazon. The accessible B08JQQHR7R listing selected “7.4 AT,” but its item details named HTM1320-01 and “7.4AT-02.” That is not an exact match for today’s official SKU. Shared branding, similar dimensions and an apparently suitable product photograph do not resolve the mismatch; this review does not send buyers to that older listing as the current model.[14]
Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere?
It suits
- Runners who prefer adjusting speed and grade with physical QuickDial controls.[1]
- Households that value a 22 × 60-inch running area over a smaller footprint.[1]
- People who want to choose their own content and understand that optional app subscriptions are separate.[6]
Who should skip it
- Buyers who need a light treadmill to relocate frequently: Horizon lists 318 lb.[2]
- Anyone who specifically requires downhill training; the stated grade range begins at zero.[2]
- People who want everything handled through one integrated training display rather than their own device.[1][6]
What does the running hardware offer?
On paper, the combination of a long deck, uphill range and physical adjustment controls makes sense for structured running. Horizon calls its cushioning 3-Zone Variable Response Cushioning and its drive system RapidSync.[1][2] Those are manufacturer descriptions, not evidence that we found it softer, faster-changing or quieter than a competitor.
The current official specification table inspected does not publish a numerical drive-motor horsepower rating. We therefore do not import the 3.5 CHP claim from the older Amazon listing. Nor do we convert cushioning terminology into claims about injury prevention. Our recommendation rests on the documented layout and controls, not assumed clinical benefits or an unverified motor comparison.[1][14]
For interval training, think about how you actually change pace. A useful console is one you can operate deliberately while maintaining your position, not simply one with many program names. Try the control layout in person if possible; the documents cannot tell you whether the dial placement feels natural to your stride.
Does app flexibility mean automatic workout control?
No: do not treat audio playback, metric sharing and automatic treadmill adjustment as interchangeable. Horizon’s -04 support article describes direct Bluetooth FTMS connections for apps including Zwift and Peloton App+, while other experiences may use heart-rate data or simply play on your device.[6] It also says app subscriptions are not included.[6]
Generation is particularly important for AtZone: Horizon’s matrix marks 7.4AT-04/TM499G compatible, but not 7.4AT-02/TM746B or TM499B.[3] The current model information table also marks native Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch connection “No.”[2] Check the exact app, device and required data before buying rather than assuming every Bluetooth feature works everywhere.
The practical appeal is choice. You can keep training content separate from the machine instead of choosing a treadmill around one subscription. The corresponding drawback is that you become responsible for your device position, charging, app setup and any optional subscription management.
What are the meaningful drawbacks?
Horizon lists assembled dimensions of 76 × 37 × 63 inches and folded dimensions of 42 × 37 × 71 inches. Measure the folded height as well as the running position. The space you save between sessions does not remove the need for safe access and clearance during use.[2][10]
The manufacturer lists a 386 lb estimated shipping weight. A difficult staircase or narrow turn is not a minor detail to solve after the truck arrives. Confirm the crew’s scope and route before ordering, particularly if the room is upstairs or below ground.[2][8]
We have no measured acceleration, occupied noise reading, belt-speed accuracy test or long-duration ownership record for this retail unit. If those are decisive concerns, treat the 7.4 AT as a shortlist candidate rather than a proven answer.
What should you check before delivery and ownership?
Horizon’s US store accepted orders during our research, but displayed an expected ship week of November 2, 2026. That is a dispatch estimate, not an arrival promise. Standard delivery excludes steps and room-of-choice placement; room delivery and delivery with assembly are different services. Horizon says the shipping method cannot be upgraded or downgraded through it after ordering.[1][8]
Ask what happens if the carton is damaged, who completes assembly and whether packaging stays with you. The direct-store returns policy runs for 30 days from delivery, requires authorization and original packaging, and describes curbside pickup. Return freight and handling may apply, with stated exceptions for certain delivery tiers. Do not read the short satisfaction-guarantee slogan as an unconditional free collection service.[9]
Horizon lists lifetime frame and motor coverage, five years for parts and two for labor.[7] The linked -04 manual limits coverage to the original owner, excludes normal wear and improper maintenance, and does not make motor installation labor lifetime-covered.[5] It also describes a 150-mile authorized-provider service radius, with excess mileage payable by the consumer.[5] Ask about service coverage for your address before ordering.
Plan maintenance rather than waiting for symptoms. The Treadmill Guide linked from Horizon’s -04 manual article specifies deck lubrication every three months or 150 miles. Follow the supplied instructions and approved lubricant; do not improvise belt adjustments or service procedures from a different generation’s online advice.[4][10]
What safety and recall context matters?
Use the safety clip, keep children and pets away, and follow the assembly sequence. The linked -04 manual specifies a grounded dedicated circuit of at least 15 amps. Have a qualified electrician assess an unsuitable outlet; do not bypass electrical protection to make the machine run.[5]
We did not identify a 7.4 AT-specific recall in the CPSC and manufacturer sources checked. The October 27, 2022 Horizon recall expressly concerns T101-05 treadmills; CPSC’s August 4, 2026 civil-penalty announcement also concerns T101-05. Those are relevant brand-level safety context, not a recall of this model. Recheck your exact model and serial number before purchase; absence from this review’s search is not a safety guarantee.[12][13]
Horizon recommends checking console software before first use and separates downloads by model, including 7.4AT-04/TM499G. Use the manufacturer’s exact-model instructions or support assistance rather than assuming an older 7.4 AT software package is interchangeable.[11]
What should you compare before deciding?
If choosing your own screen sounds like work rather than freedom, read our NordicTrack Commercial 1750 review for a contrasting, screen-centered approach. For a broader shortlist, use our best treadmills guide. Decide first whether independent training, integrated content or easier placement matters most; only then compare features.

How we review
We reconciled the current US product page with Horizon’s model information and generation-specific app matrix.[1][2][3] We also consulted the exact-labelled manual index and warranty documents.[4][5][7] Amazon item identifiers and CPSC records were checked separately.[12][13][14] The linked owner manual’s footer identifies 7.4AT-04, rather than a newly released “2026 model.”[5] We have not tested or measured this treadmill. Recommendations are editorial interpretations of those documents, with unresolved seller and generation details kept explicit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use it without a paid training app?
The linked manual provides standalone workouts. Optional third-party app subscriptions are separate, not included with the equipment.[5][6]
Does the Horizon 7.4 AT have decline?
Horizon lists a 0–15% incline range, not negative decline.[1]
How much space does it occupy when folded?
The manufacturer lists 42 × 37 × 71 inches. Allow operating clearance separately.[2][10]
Does every 7.4 AT support AtZone?
No. Horizon’s matrix distinguishes compatible 7.4AT-04/TM499G from older -02 serial prefixes. Confirm the delivered generation.[3]
Is the Amazon 7.4 AT listing the current official SKU?
Not the listing we could reconcile: B08JQQHR7R identified HTM1320-01/-02, while Horizon currently lists HTM1380-01. We have not cleared an exact-current Amazon destination.[1][14]
Where can I compare another training approach?
See our NordicTrack Commercial 1750 review, then choose whether integrated content or your own device better fits your routine.
